Bipartisan Senate committee leaders introduced the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026. The bill would dramatically change environmental rules governing project development, especially for energy and mineral projects, by increasing permitting certainty, streamlining permitting processes, limiting litigation, and enacting important new provisions on interstate transmission, offshore transmission, geothermal, and hydropower energy, among other provisions.
